Christen Scozzafave, LCSW is a licensed clinical social worker in the states of Illinois, Michigan, New Jersey and Wisconsin. Christen specializes in psychotherapy services related to perinatal complications including mood complications, pregnancy & infant loss, medical complications (fetal & maternal), termination considerations, parenting transitions, challenges associated with prematurity, and infertility.
Other areas of specialty and expertise include grief, bereavement & loss, depression, anxiety, trauma, adjustment to illness, relationship challenges, adjustment to illness, and life & career transitions. She is certified in bereavement and adjustment related to companion animal loss and illness.
Christen takes pride in warmly attending to the emotional needs of individuals as they navigate both the stress of welcomed life changes and difficulties that sometimes arise. She believes that through every one of life’s challenges, there is growth, healing and peace possible. She uses a relational approach to therapy, offering a nonjudgmental and welcoming environment, and tailoring interventions to the needs of those she serves.
From 2013 until 2020, Christen also served as a Perinatal Family Support Specialist at NorthShore University HealthSystem (now Endeavor Health) working with obstetrics, maternal fetal medicine and neonatology to clinically support mothers and families facing severe complications during and after pregnancy. She is formerly a board member for Beyond the Baby Blues located in Evanston, IL and was a member of the National Association for Perinatal Social Workers.
Prior to transitioning to a career in clinical social work in 2011, Christen served as a management and technology consultant for over 11 years working for clients in the Biotech and Pharmaceutical industries. Areas of expertise include program & project management, business development, relationship management, team building & employee development, quality system strategy and implementation, business process definition & improvement, and regulatory compliance.
Christen obtained her Masters of Social Work from the University of Chicago and Bachelors of Science in Industrial & Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan.
Christen currently resides in Montclair, New Jersey where she enjoys cooking, reading, yoga, long walks, movies, nature, time with good friends & great dogs, and occasional events in New York City. Previously, she lived in Chicago for 20 years and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (which will always be home) for four years.
